Freedom

by Tracey Barnett

/

about

Freedom is what Tracey half-jokingly refers to as a 'therapy song', created to exorcise a demon within herself. She explains, “I wrote Freedom as a message to a part of myself I was trying to let go of. I needed to find a sense of freedom and stop being held back.”

lyrics

Sweet baby why don't you lean on me
I said I see your desire, that place that you been dreaming I
See it in your eyes, you want to leave this place behind
and shed the fears that hold you back

Freedom!
She says can you tell me where, freedom lies?
Tell me what that is to feel
Freedom!

Sweet baby why do you aim to please
why do you need to live life for everyone except yourself?
It's good to have a common decency you know but
you also need to have a healthy sense of self

Freedom!
She says can you tell me where, freedom lies?
Tell me what that is to feel
Freedom!

O oh, I don’t want to pry
but oh girl you're wasting your life
There's no need to wait your turn
Just spread your wings
And hold on!
Enjoy the ride!
To freedom!
Freedom
Listen to your heart
